When we began designing the Lana Collection, choosing the colours was never simply about aesthetics.
Over many years, we listened to clients tell us that they didn’t want assistive equipment that looked clinical or institutional. They wanted products that supported their independence but also felt at home in the places where they lived.
As sisters and founders of STEPS Inclusive Design, Jules and Toria spent more than a decade creating an environment that feel warm, welcoming and far removed from a hospital setting. They know how much colour can influence how a space feels, and believed the same thought should be given to the equipment people use every day.
The three colours chosen for the Lana Collection were carefully selected to complement a wide range of traditional, contemporary and modern interiors. More importantly, they were chosen to give people something often missing from assistive products: choice.
But the colours also tell a much more personal story.
The Lana Collection is named after the founders’ mum, Lana. Before becoming a nurse, she worked as a florist and later returned to floristry, a passion she shared with countless others. Lana was also a much-loved volunteer at STEPS Rehabilitation, spending time with clients creating flower arrangements, wreaths and seasonal displays.
Flowers brought her joy and creativity, and it felt only right that they should inspire this collection.
Each of the three colours is named after a flower, reflecting Lana’s love of floristry and celebrating the impact she had on so many people. Every colour has been chosen not only to look beautiful in a home but also to honour the belief that assistive products can be practical, personal and uplifting.
Because when people need specialist equipment, they shouldn’t have to choose between function and feeling at home.
