Choice matters
Assistive products are often limited to clinical grey, beige, white, and blue. Influenced by leading interior designers, our colour options let you choose a colour that feels right for your space — because we believe supportive products should feel personal, not prescribed.
Made for real life
Designed to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of environments, from private homes and assisted living to rehabilitation clinics, healthcare facilities, laboratories and commercial workspaces.

Smarter Support
Traditional stools force a 90° seated posture. Standing for long periods increases fatigue. The Lana perching stool supports a semi-perched position, reducing pressure through the hips and knees while keeping you upright and engaged.

"It doesn’t feel like medical equipment, it feels like furniture. That made a huge difference to me".
Premium like no other
Most perching stools are built to meet minimum function. Ours was designed in collaboration with world-leading physiotherapists and occupational therapists at STEPS Rehabilitation. Industry-leading interior designers and engineers. Designed to exceed expectations.

Inspired by natural forms, the sculpted backrest and flowing frame create a soft, unique look that feels calm and considered within the home.

The supportive back and armrests offer gentle stability.

Combining comfort, function and refined design in one seamless form.
Made for real life
Unlike traditional adjustment systems, our patent-pending 2-point locking mechanism has been custom-designed to provide a secure, stable lock at your chosen height. The easy-to-use pull handle allows smooth height adjustment, while the dual locking points enable a solid and secure feel once engaged.
Strength and Stability
Sustainability starts with longevity. High-performance materials and precision manufacturing reduce waste and extend product life, while modular components support long-term maintenance.

The Lana Perching Stool will be officially launched at Rehacare in Dusseldorf in September 2026. Pre-orders will be live exclusively through our website at this time, and we will be in touch with delivery details once the Perching Stool is ready to ship.
The Perching Stool is designed for adults who find standing for extended periods tiring or difficult. It is particularly suited to older adults, and to people living with or recovering from conditions that affect balance, stamina, or lower-limb strength including stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, and those rehabilitating following hip or knee replacement surgery.
Its forward-sloping seat naturally encourages a comfortable perching posture, reducing fatigue and making it easier to sit down and stand up again with confidence. It works equally well at home, in care environments, and in clinical settings. If you would like guidance on whether it is the right fit, we recommend speaking with an occupational therapist or healthcare professional.
Absolutely. Our team is happy to help, whether you are purchasing for yourself, a family member, or a patient. Reach us at info@stepsinclusivedesign.co.uk and we will make sure you have everything you need to make a confident decision. Clinicians and referrers are always welcome to contact us directly.
As a registered medical device, the Lana Perching Stool may qualify for VAT relief if you are purchasing it for personal use and have a disability or long-term health condition. Our VAT-exempt price will be displayed when product pricing goes live.
The Lana Perching Stool is built to support people who need a stable, comfortable place to rest without fully sitting down. Its forward-sloping seat encourages a natural perching posture that reduces fatigue, supports better posture, and makes transitioning between sitting and standing feel easier and more controlled.
It is particularly beneficial for older adults and individuals managing conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, or those recovering from hip or knee replacement surgery; where sustained standing is difficult but full seated rest is not always practical or desirable. Designed for home, care, and clinical environments, it is a product that works as hard as it looks good.
Maximum user weight: 130kg (20 stone)
Seat height range: 52.5cm to 67cm (7 positions)
Seat size: 40 x 27.5cm
Footprint: 54 x 36cm
Product weight: 5kg
The armrests and backrest are there to help with balance and postural support during use, particularly when sitting down or standing up. They are design as stability aids rather than weight-bearing supports, so we recommend using them as a guide rather than leaning on them heavily.
The Perching Stool arrives partially assembled in two sections – a lower leg frame and an upper frame with seat and backrest already attached and allows us to keep reduce packaging whilst keeping the unboxing straightforward. Everything you need is in the box.
Very. No tools are required at any stage. The two sections click together using or patent-pending pull-pin locking mechanism which is designed to be as intuitive as it is precise. The fidelity of the mechanism ensures every adjustment clicks into place cleanly and with complete confidence. The whole process takes just a few minutes.
Step-by-step instructions are included in the box, and if you prefer to watch rather than read, video guides are available via the QR code on the packaging.
The Perching Stool offers seven height positions (1 through 6, plus MAX), covering a seat height range of 52.5cm to 67cm, allowing it to be set up to suite a wide range of users. To adjust, pull out both patent-pending pull-pin tabs on each side of the frame, move the upper section to your chosen height, then release the pins and check both sides have locked securely into the same position before use. You should hear an audible clean click when the mechanism is securely locked in place.
We recommend laying the Perching Stool on its front with the backrest facing upward before making any height changes. This keeps the upper frame supported during adjustment and avoids any unexpected movement when the locking mechanisms are released. Always adjust before someone sits on the stool, never while it is in use.
The Perching Stool is designed for indoor use on flat, level surfaces. For the best performance and longevity, we recommend keeping it away from prolonged exposure to moisture, direct heat, or outdoor conditions.
A regular wipe down with warm water and a mild neutral detergent, such as plain dish soap, is all it takes to keep the Perching Stool looking and performing its best. Dry it thoroughly after cleaning. To protect the finish and materials, avoid abrasive cleaners, alcohol-based sprays or wipes, bleach, acetone, or any strong chemical disinfectants.
We encourage you to give the Perching Stool a quick inspection every so often, checking that all components feel secure, the locking mechanisms engage easily, and there are no signs of wear, cracks, or damage to the feet. If anything does not feel right, take the stool out of use and contact us.
Every Lana Perching Stool is backed by a 2-year guarantee covering defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. This applies when the stool has been used within its stated weight capacity, in line with the user manual, and looked after as directed. It does not extend to normal wear, accidental damage, or cosmetic marks that do not affect performance.
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by this guarantee.
We are always happy to hear from you.
