The Lana Collection is named in honour of Lana, mother of Co-Founders Jules Shiel-Boulger and Toria Chan, and grandmother to Henry and Toby. The name reflects our belief that inclusive design begins with real people and real stories, and that supportive products should empower, not label.
Too often, assistive equipment is named in a way that feels purely clinical: model numbers, abbreviations and functional descriptors that speak more to conditions than to people. The Lana Collection was created to take a different approach. By giving the collection a human name, we place dignity, design and personal experience at the centre of every product. Our guiding question is simple: would we be proud to see someone we love using it?
Jules and Toria, two of the founders, are also the Co-Founders and Directors of STEPS Rehabilitation®, a specialist residential rehabilitation facility based in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Their years spent alongside clients, families and clinicians have shaped a firm belief that inclusive products should empower the people who use them, never label them. A shower stool or perching stool should not announce a diagnosis the moment someone walks into a room; it should simply be a beautifully made, thoughtfully designed piece of furniture that also offers support.
This ethos runs through the whole Lana Collection. The sculpted backrests and flowing frames are inspired by natural forms. The materials are chosen for warmth and refinement as much as durability. Nothing about the collection is clinical or institutional, because we believe assistive products being used in a home environment should look like they belong there Even the colours have names worth saying
The same thinking extends to our colour collection. Assistive products are often limited to clinical grey, beige, white and blue. Working with a leading interior designer, we developed a palette you would happily choose for each room in your home: Midnight Iris, Tuscan Poppy and Green Orchid. We believe assistive products should be supportive and not prescribed.
Lana always sets a high bar. This influenced every design decision in the collection, every material choice and every detail honouring the person behind the name. When inclusive design starts with someone real, it ends with products that people are proud to use.
